The river next to the port is Thi Vai, which empties into the South China Sea. Phu My Port is just 65 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, which is the most pulsating city of Vietnam.
At 7:00AM, you will be met by our guide at the pier and driven to My Tho City in the Mekong Delta afterwards.
The trip to the Delta area takes us about three hours. Stop for a short rest en route. Right after reaching My Tho, you will kick back on a nice boat tour along the mighty river to Vam Xep canal.
For a more detailed description of My Tho, it is known as a provincial city of Tien Giang and situated on the upper branch of the Mekong River. My Tho is also the first city you can visit for a trip to explore the Mekong Delta from Ho Chi Minh City, so there is no doubt that it has been one of the popular destinations in a full day Mekong Delta tour. There are dozens of activities to experience when arriving in this place.
First, make a visit to an orchard where you are enabled to taste local tropical succulent fruits and listen to traditional music, called “Don Ca Tai Tu” in Vietnamese with sweet melodies. Fruits in the Mekong Delta are known to be so abundant that the region has become the biggest fruit basket of Vietnam. “Don Ca Tai Tu” is allegedly a type of instrumental and vocal traditional music which emerged in southern Vietnam in the 19th century. It is believed to be a sophisticated combination of ritual music from southern Vietnam and chamber music of central Vietnam. The reason why “Don Ca Tai Tu” has become popular is that it means music and song of the amateurs as well as a musical entertainment for music lovers at all classes of society.
Savor a fun horse cart ride through village paths. It is awesome to gain a stimulating experience of siting a rural vehicle through the shadow of green trees. Pay a visit to a family workshop of making coconut candies, and you will not only understand about techniques in creating local products, but also sample scrumptious drinks of green tea and lime & honey tea.
Have an enjoyable rowing boat ride through small canals. It is possible to say that the rowing boat ride is a typical activity of the Mekong Delta as it brings you a new glimpse of the local life on the water. With this activity, you will kick back with cool breeze and absorb the tranquility of the countryside while being rowed through narrow canals.
Eat a delicious lunch of local specialties. Take a rest before cycling around the Tan Thach Village in the afternoon. This cycling trip, you take a chance to meet local people and know more about the daily life in the Delta region.
