Overview
Easing your way in to your Myanmar tour, your first day is flexible to relax or explore Yangon before boarding the ’71 up’ train to Pyay.
Your cycling journey then begins from Pyay with a four-day ride to Bagan. During this portion of your Myanmar tour the cycling route passes through some of the most amazing scenaries in the country. Although the days cover long distances, there is plenty of time to stop for photos, to meet locals or to refresh with a cold drink. A support vehicle with you at all times during the cycling part of your Myanmar tour, so you can rest your legs in the van as often as you wish.
As you make your way northwards, you will pass through the towns of Pyay and Magway. Traveling by bike through these villages you will be rewarded with a unique perspective that most tourists miss out on during their Myanmar tour. The friendly locals, breathtaking scenery and unusual sights such as a bespectacled Buddha are unexpected highlights of this Myanmar tour package.
On day five you will approach Mount Popa, located just outside of Bagan. Riding uphill to reach the top of this extinct volcano is a challenging, yet rewarding experience. After a restful night’s sleep at a hilltop lodge you’ll join the local pilgrims as they pay homage to the spirit shrines at Mount Popa then coast downhill to Bagan, the final destination on this Myanmar tour.
Filled with hundreds of temples and bordered by the Irrawaddy River, you’ll spend your days exploring this quiet town by bike and by car. Your guide will share with you his in-depth knowledge on the history and lore of Bagan as you make your way by bus and bike through the towns. With two days here at the end of your Myanmar tour package, you can relax and explore the temples and villages at a leisurely pace.

Yangon – Pyay
Welcome to Myanmar. Before setting off on your cycling journey, spend the morning exploring the city or relaxing before boarding the ’71 up’ train for the comfortable 5-6 hour journey to Pyay. Overnight in Pyay
Pyay
Fuel up with a good breakfast before setting off on your first day of riding. Today explore the sights and sounds of Pyay on two wheels, cycling from local markets to museums to stupas and temples. Cross the river to enjoy views of Pyay before watching the sunset from the top of Shwesandaw Paya. Overnight in Pyay. (Total Cycling Distance: 48)
Pyay – Magway
This morning’s ride takes you along flat roads and past scenic villages on the way to Magway. You’ll hop into a car at near Thit Yar Kaut Village and complete the final leg of the journey by car. Arriving midday there is plenty of time to explore this charming riverside town or choose to relax by the Irrawaddy and rest up for tomorrow’s challenging ride. Overnight in Magway. Magway – Mt Popa
Get ready for a great day out with a 90 kilometer ride to Mt Popa, Myanmar most famous nat shrine. The landscape today is incredibly diverse- first passing through arid flatlands of palm fields and then climbing the slopes of a volcanic peak to the beautiful Mount Popa Mountain Resort. Reward yourself with a swim in the pool, soak in the views of the surrounding plains and enjoy the solitude of this beautiful location. Overnight at Mt Popa Mountain Resort. Mt Popa – Bagan

Bagan – Biking the Temples
Spend today biking around the plains of Bagan- we’ll visit a mix of villages, markets and of course temples. Start off with a visit to Nyaung Oo Market, then coast between pagodas and temples, including the glittering Shwezegon pagoda and Ananda Temple. After lunch visit a local handicraft center to observe production of laquerware. Continue biking through the temple plains and arrive at an elevated temple to watch the sun set. Overnight in Bagan. (Total Cycling Distance: 16-20 km)
Bagan – Myitche – Pakokku – Bagan
Cross the waters of the Irrawady to commence the ride to the typical village of Myitche, where few tourists venture. Enjoy a wander around the market and sample local snacks before continuing to Pakokku where lunch will be enjoyed. Relax this afternoon as we cruise back to Bagan on a private boat. We’ve left the afternoon free for more sightseeing, cycling, shopping or relaxing. Overnight in Bagan. (Total Cycling Distance:40 km)
Bagan Departure
This morning is at leisure before transferring to the Nyaung Oo Airport for your onward flight. End of Cycle Yangon to Bagan.
