Bangkok Arrival
When you arrive at Bangkok Airport you be met by your driver and guide who will escort you to your hotel of choice in Bangkok. You will check in and have the rest of the day to do what you like. Meals are on the guests account today. Overnight in Bangkok.
Royal Grand Palace & Temples of Bangkok
After breakfast at your hotel, you will commence your day tour of Bangkok. First you will visit Wat Pho (Reclining Buddha Temple) which is the biggest and oldest temple in the city. See the 200 year old, five and a half ton Golden Buddha at Wat Trimit before enjoying a Thai lunch. After lunch make your way to the Royal Grand Palace. Take a walk around the palace grounds and drop into the grand Coronation Hall. See the holiest temple in Thailand known as The Emerald Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Kaew ). After the tour, head back to your overnight accommodation in Bangkok. Tonight you are free to explore Bangkok. Dinner is on the guest’s account.
Damnoen Saduak Floating Market & Kanchanaburi
Following your breakfast at your hotel, you will depart for your air conditioned drive to Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. Along the way you pass by the largest salt source in Thailand. Visit a farmer’s house that produces sugar from coconut trees before boarding a speed boat to the floating markets. They markets have been thriving for centuries and you can buy things such as fresh fruit and Thai Handicrafts. Enjoy lunch at a local Thai restaurant using only the freshest ingredients. After lunch we continue on to Kanchanaburi to visit the renowned Bridge over the River Kwai and the nearby World War 2 Museum. You will be taken to your hotel for check in before having the rest of the day to yourself. Dinner is your choice this evening and you will stay overnight at your hotel in Kanchaburi
Kanchanaburi, Ayuttaya & Bangkok
Enjoy your breakfast at your hotel before your transfer to the previous Capital of Thailand, Ayutthaya. Visit the stunning summer palace known as Bang Pa-In Summer Palace and marvel at all the history it has to offer. Next you will be transferred to Krung Sri River for a delightful buffet lunch. After lunch you will go to see the ruins of Wat Phra Sri Sanpetch which was previously the Royal Temple. Also explore Wat Yai Chai Mongkol (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha), Wat Mahathat and Wat Ratchabura. Return to your hotel and have the rest of the day free. Dinner is on your account. Spent the night in Bangkok.
Bangkok, Chiang Rai Flight & Chiang Saen
You will have your breakfast at the hotel today before being transferred to the airport for your flight to Chiang Rai. You will be transported from the airport to your hotel for check in and have a chance to refresh yourself. Next you will head to the notorious Golden Triangle long connected with the production of Opium. Visit a nearby lookout to view the actual triangle which is made up by where the Mekong and Ruak Rivers connect at the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos. Visit the very interesting Opium Museum before being transferred to your overnight accommodation in Chiang Saen. Dinner is at your expense this evening.
Mae Sai, Doi Tung & Chiang Mai
Breakfast will be served at your hotel this morning and when you are ready we will make our way to one of the biggest border markets, Mae Sai Border Market. You will find practically everything you could imagine at this bustling market with goods imported from China and Myanmar including electronics, jewelry, clothing and fresh food products. Have a superb local lunch of tasty treats before making your way to Doi Tung, also known as the Switzerland of Asia. At an altitude of almost 1000 meters, the Mae Fah Luang Gardens are a delightful sight with plants and shrubs from around the world. The views are stunning from there. Finally you will be transferred to your hotel in Chiang Mai for your overnight stay. You are free for the remainder of the day and dinner is at your expense.
Doi Suthep Temple, Meo Doi Pui & Handicraft Village
Breakfast is served at your hotel before we make our way to a Meo Hill Tribe Village. They are descended from Southern China and generally have large family communities. Agriculture is their main means of income with crops such as corn, soya beans and rice being their staple diet. Doi Pui was once well known for its opium crops which thrived at 1,500 meters above sea level. Try the local cuisine for lunch and be amazed at the awesome flavors of the cuisine of this region. Continue on to Wat Doi Suthep and experience an incredible view over Chiang Mai. Next we will visit San Kamphaeng which is the centre of the cotton and silk industries. Learn how they make and weave these stunning fabrics into wonderful products. Visit Bor Sang, where paper umbrellas are manufactured and painted by hand. Next is Thai Celadon where superb ceramics are manufactured. For hundreds of years these wares have been distributed all around the region. See craftsmen produce incredible silverware and lacquer ware products. Head to your hotel in Chiang Mai for check in and enjoy the evening free to dine and do anything you like.
Chiang Mai & Trekking to Hill Tribe Villages
Following breakfast at your hotel, you will depart by pick-up truck to visit local hill tribe villages. The lifestyle here is very interesting and the local people are friendly and enjoy meeting outsiders. Visit a beautiful waterfall and enjoy the hot springs before departing on a 1.5 hour trek to Karen Village where you will dine on Traditional Local Thai Cuisine and spend the night.
Trekking to Lisu, Karen & Lahu Villages
When you have finished breakfast, stroll around the village to see the everyday lives of the local people. Take a 45 minute trek to an Elephant camp and then a 1.5 hour elephant ride through the jungle. Arrive at Lahu Village where you will enjoy a traditional dinner and spend the night.
Lahu Village, Shan Village & Chiang Mai
Finish breakfast at the village before embarking on a 2 hour bamboo raft ride to Shan village. Spend some time to get to know the locals and their traditions and culture. Enjoy a fantastic lunch at the village before your journey to Chiang Mai. Check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day relaxing. Dinner is at your expense and you will stay the evening at your hotel in Chiang Mai
